Fire and Ice
Tierra Sagrada, The Sacred Earth Foundation helped to support the manifestation of "The Sacred Fire Ceremony in Greenland" this ceremony united indigenous people, leading scientists and innovative leaders from around the world, bringing together Spirit and Science as we addressed the Melting of the Big Ice in an event of global magnitude.
In the winter of 1963 two young Eskimo-Kalaallit men went hunting and came to the big ice to do their ceremony. They discovered water trickling from the great wall. They returned to their village and told their elders what they had seen. The Elders sent a runner, Angaangaq, to tell the world the ice was melting.
This gathering fulfilled the prophesy of the people on top of the world. Centuries ago, the big ice swallowed the trees and only animal fat remained as fuel for the fire. As the ice melts, trees are once again reappearing in Greenland. The prophesy said "when the people need it the most, the sacred fire will return to Greenland... We have witnessed the completion of this prophesy with hearts filled with love and a deeper understanding of our shifting Mother Earth.
