Inception

The concept of a Sacred Earth Foundation had been on my heart for some time. By 2004 I had completed all of the paperwork for non-profit status of Tierra Sagrada, The Sacred Earth Foundation. Like much in life the timing was not perfect. During this time I was in a very non-functioning relationship and; realizing that, I was aware that I couldn't quite step forward to bring the Foundation to life. With much sadness, I put this relationship behind and moved into a home with new roommates in Santa Barbara, California. Within 2 days I was in surgery for a ruptured disc in my back. I came home from the hospital and was resting alone in my back yard, of course feeling sorry for myself and mourning the loss of a relationship. All the sadness of my past seemed to come out my mouth. I wailed and wept over the loss of what might have been. After I had had my good cry it was just as if Mother Earth wrapped her arms around me with love. This Divine embrace was a total shift and now I saw clearly not just the path ahead but every tiny insect, every tree and leaf. All the earth was calling for my attention and It was as though something had lifted and the very essence of the light seemed to shift around me

I asked Great Spirit to guide me and show me what I should do to step forward with this non-profit. In less than 24 hours I received a call from a friend of Steve Copeland's. I had never met either of them. Steve was the producer of a film called "The Shift of the Ages", a beautiful film about the message from Don Alejandro, Maya leader of Guatemala. Steve needed a non-profit to receive donations for their film. It was an open door for Tierra Segrada and the guidance which came forth could not have been more swift or clear. Thus, the first indigenous elder hosted by The Sacred Earth Foundation was Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj. It was the beginning of The Sacred Earth Foundation and the realization of my dream. It was also the fulfillment of the hopes of many indigenous individuals who had sacred, often ancient gifts to share with a world yearning for such life-changing offerings.

You can see the film here.
